The city of Meishan in Sichuan has announced its “Fashionable Sports City Plan 2025–2030”, outlining a vision to lead in niche and emerging sports.
The plan highlights four focus areas, with particular emphasis on activities such as rock climbing, paddleboarding, triathlon and pickleball.
Notably, Meishan has already made its mark by hosting international climbing competitions and launching the Meishan International Rock Climbing Centre — built in just 150 days and now the world’s largest climbing facility by scale and surface area.
